During World Restart A Heart 2019, no fewer than 5.4 million people learned CPR! In mass training events organised by all ILCOR councils and many other organisations, CPR was taught to laypeople and schoolchildren. Moreover, we reached over 206 million people through social media on and around 16 October.
Sudden out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is the third leading cause of death in industrialized nations. Many of these lives can be saved if bystander CPR rates are improved.
We hope that our simple and unified global message, “CHECK—CALL—COMPRESS,” will furtherenable many policy makers around the world to take immediate and sustainable action in this importanthealthcare issue and initiative.
