ILCOR meeting - Hilton Hotel Orlando, Florida

21/12/2009

A meeting of ILCOR took place at the Hilton Hotel Orlando, Florida on Thursday and Friday 12 and 13 November. There was the usual programme of official representative meetings and task force breakouts, together with plenary sessions at which various important and controversial topics were discussed.

The majority of the topic worksheets have now been presented in webinar or face-to-face sessions to the appropriate task forces (BLS, ALS, PLS, NLS, EIT, ACS), but this meeting provided an opportunity for further such presentations and editing of the draft consensus on science and treatment recommendations. Some topics of interdisciplinary interest or potential controversy (such as compression-only CPR) formed the subjects of plenary sessions. All completed worksheets are now posted on the internet for public comment.

The next stage in the guidelines revision process is the ‘2010 International Consensus on Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC) Science with Treatment Recommendations Conference', which will take place in Dallas, Texas from 31 January to 6 February 2010. Several hundred attendees - worksheet authors, ILCOR delegates, task force members, invited experts, and national resuscitation council representatives - will be there to discuss and refine the worksheet conclusions. The results will form the scientific basis of international and national resuscitation guidelines to be published later in the year.
